National Thank a Teacher Day comes to ETT
Jun 18

Teachers are the backbone of our education system, the ones inspiring our children to learn and grow. So to celebrate National Thank a Teacher Day, we have collected quotes from two perspectives, some from our wonderful trainees nearing the end of their course, and one from our Deputy Head, Jo.

Cody wanted to celebrate her Mentor, Mel:

"My Mentor is truly one of a kind - strong, thoughtful, and full of wisdom. She lifts people up, leads by example, and has changed my life in the best way."

Trainee Samantha would also like to show her appreciation for her placement schools in South Yorkshire:

"As I come to the end of this chapter in my teacher training journey, I want to take a moment to express my deepest thanks to the incredible mentors who guided and supported me along the way.

To Vicki and Amy in Placement A – thank you both for creating such a supportive and inspiring environment to learn and grow in. Your patience, encouragement, and willingness to share your knowledge made a huge difference in my development as a trainee teacher. I’ll always be grateful for the time, trust, and confidence you placed in me."

To Helen in Placement B – thank you for your unwavering support, your constructive feedback, and the way you constantly pushed me to reflect and improve. Your dedication and professionalism have been a true example, and I’ve learned so much from watching you in action.

Thank you all for being such important parts of this journey. I’m so grateful for everything you’ve done to help me become the teacher I am today."

Another trainee, Marie wants to thank her Mentor and colleagues at Norther Education Trust school, Ingleby Manor.

"Richard F for being an amazing Mentor and role model to both myself and the students.

Rachael W for being so kind and supportive throughout my training year, and being my personal cheerleader when I've needed it.

Sarah B for being a great help and making time to point out and share resources  that support my lessons, even whilst being busy herself!"

From another perspective, our Deputy Head, Jo wanted to praise her ETT colleagues:

"Today, I want to give a huge shout-out to Rebecca, Helen, Ali, Jo and Sam - five incredible educators who pour their passion, energy and expertise into running a truly inspiring Initial Teacher Training programme. Your commitment to shaping the next generation of teachers, your belief in making a difference and your tireless work behind the scenes don’t go unnoticed. It’s no small thing to lead with heart, ambition and a vision for the future - but you do it every single day. I absolutely love working alongside you in your roles - it’s a privilege to be part of such a brilliant, values-driven team. Thank you for everything you do!"
